The Balkans Internet eXchange (BIX) in Tirana is being developed by US-based UNIFI to serve as Albania’s first fibre-connected data centre. UNIFI is implementing a regional fibre network, initially from Tirana to Bari in Italy, providing connectivity from Albania to the major telecoms hubs in Western Europe. Subsequent phases will connect to Greece, Kosovo, Macedonia, and Montenegro.
